 With my work I pose the question of what a picture should actually be or mean.
The work has to do with the principle of how a conception can be transmitted over the media background, such as canvas, photography, wood etc.
I employ word and/or letters, also drawing, that come out of the spoken language, and work on them further.
I can combine them with colours, with photography, objects and other materials, choose the format, frame them or not. With these materials I make my statements, which are more than a collection of these elements: so is the concept developed from my head. Whatever ideas are provoked from the beholder’s standpoint is determined by his or her individual temperament. I want my pictures and objects to be taken as a trigger to be consciously experienced and to allow one’s own associations to be developed.
An open series such as the A and O pieces offer limitless possibilities.
I have set for myself a limited means of possibilities of expression:
-two letters, a fixed format and 3 very clear, simple typefaces
-Color, size and order of the letters offer continually new variables.
One can read A and O as Alpha and Omega, beginning and end or becoming and leaving. With equal right can one see the picture and writing as triangle, circles/oval and square, which create tension due to their relationship with one another.
To replace perception with movement and at the same time to BE the experience, as intensive perception always includes movement, is the essence of what I do.
